Climate Action Day Jan 13th
We are running a Climate Action Day in Belvedere College on Friday Jan 13th next and I want to extend a warm invitation to you, your whole school, and especially your Green Schools committees and any students or teachers who are interested in climate justice and action.
There are 4 elements to our day:
- A climate action gathering at the Dáil at lunchtime along with other regular activists who gather there every Friday
- An optional tour of Belvedere College Urban Farm in the afternoon (our latest addition to our existing farm).
- A screening of the film The Letter. “The Letter,” is a film by Laudato Si’ Movement that tells the story of several leaders, committed to ecological and social causes who travel to Rome to discuss the encyclical letter Laudato Si’ with Pope Francis. The documentary is about our planetary catastrophe and its impact on people globally and our environment. The protagonists include an Indigenous leader from the Amazon, a Senegalese climate refugee, a youth activist from India, and a married pair of scientists from Hawaii. Their exclusive dialogue with the Pope, included in the film, offers a revealing glimpse into Pope Francis’ personal history and never-before-seen stories since he became the Bishop of Rome.
- A panel discussion after the film with Eamon Ryan TD, Minister for Transport, Environment, Climate and Communications plus Lorna Gold who is featured in the film and other young climate activists.
See attached poster and your invitation.
Please circulate as wide as you know where people would be interested. It is not exclusive to our own network, so if you have friends or family that would be passionate about climate justice, please share this with them.
To gather expressions of interest and manage numbers (places are limited for the film and tours) please register at this link and ask all other individuals to do the same.
Blessings to each of you for Advent, and THANK YOU for whatever level of support you can offer for this.
